Meet Romel D’Munda
Romel has built a career doing one thing: making sure institutions handle other people’s money honestly. Now he wants to do it for Scotch Plains.

Service and giving back
Romel served in the United States Navy from 2001 to 2004. That same commitment to service shows up close to home: for many years he has volunteered with Scotch Plains-Fanwood youth sports, including as a vice president of operations, and has helped coach kids across baseball, basketball, and football. The goal has always been simple: giving back to the community while helping local kids succeed.
Rooted in Scotch Plains
Romel lives in Scotch Plains with his family. In November 2024 he was sworn into the Scotch Plains-Fanwood chapter of UNICO, the nation’s largest Italian-American service organization (as covered by TAPinto SPF), where he volunteers in the chapter’s charitable and community work.
Long before he ran for office, Romel’s son nominated him for a Patch Father’s Day feature, describing a dad who “gives an extra hand when it counts” and is “constantly teaching.” You can read it on Patch.
He is running for Township Council on the Republican slate with Brian Johdos and Deanna Dell Bene, endorsed by the Union County Republican Organization.
